This past Monday, February 13, 2012, a series of attacks were perpetrated against Israeli diplomatic personnel across the globe. A car bomb targeting Israeli diplomats went off in New Delhi; another was diffused outside the Israeli embassy in Tiblisi; and a third bomb went off inside a private residence in Bangkok, seriously injuring an Iranian national thought to be en-route to delivering the bomb to the Israeli embassy in that city. It was later determined that the each of the bombs were similar, implicating Iranian involvement.
Both Iran and Hezbollah have denied responsibility, however, Israel remains convinced of their guilt. Their conviction is aided in part by the avowed retaliation for oil sanctions imposed on Iran by the West and some believe the latest attacks to be evidence of increased unpredictability among Iran’s leadership in the face of economic tolls resulting from the sanctions.
