Syria’s refugee children: Futures lost to the war

This article follows Muzoon Almellehan, a 20 year-old Syrian woman who is advocating for education for refugee children from the war in Syria. She herself was a refugee for 5 years, and has seen how important education is to the future of children. It is reported that 40% of Syrian refugee children are completely out of school, and points out that many of these children have been recruited into combat. The poverty that affects these children and their families also keeps them from advancing any in their new “homes.”  It is sad to see so many futures stunted by the ongoing conflict and violence in Syria.
